My Meeting with Bob Peterson

I had a 3-hour discussion with the Art Center graduate chair. It was the fastest conversation I had in a while, and that's a good thing. I felt a little more liberated and aware about how the film business works and that there are no official rules. You can manuever your way out of anything and negotiate bizarre cases with agents or producers. Filmmaking is more expensive than you think, and more. Better just do it right with purchasing location permits and paying your SAG actors. Bob made me realize that the top directors tell the same story and define their genre. Kubrick, a masterful director, told stories about people going crazy. The Coen Bros tell stories about ordinary people being challenged by intense, ethical situations and suffering the consequences. Hence I realized I tell stories about people who are desperately searching for something they lost. Huh, strange.
