"Point Of Envy" Update: Leads Attached

This is the good news. On March 20th, Kandis came over to record our voice commentary for "Line Of Fire" and to discuss my new script. Up to this point, I've already received a lot of criticism for my script from friends but they like the story. And I agreed with most of their opinions. I knew early on that people will either really dig it or really hate it. I'm telling a recycled story but making it my own with some twists. Kandis, for some reason, liked it and said it creeped her out which is good. So thankfully, she's in.

I hate auditions. It's just hell. My buddy, Jen, recommended I contact her friend and actress, Cooper Harris. I checked out her acting reel on her website and became impressed because it felt "real" you know? So many reels out there are just lame, singular, and over the top. Less is more. We met in person in Hollywood and discussed my vision, the genesis of the story, and the style I'm altering to pursue. She liked the script and became excited to play a dark, challenging role. It's funny because I didn't know what I was doing with all the dialogue which is mostly between two different women and no one complained about it to me. I was just pretending to write a script as if I was Paul Haggis or some other pro with awards on his desk.

But how do I raise $3000 in 2 months during these harsh times? Well, I may need more than that because shooting 2 weekends instead of 1 will double the cost-- especially equipment and actors. This is a long shot but I'm going to email everyone I know with a support letter I designed a few weeks ago. For such a simple story, it's an ambitious production. I need extras in 3 critical scenes. I can feel the headaches mounting on. You're probably wondering, why do it? Why make movies if it's so negative? It's all part of the process to anything you're passionate of. Gotta try to treat it like eustress and not distress. Do that and you'll be fine. It's also fun because unexpected twists do occur on every film production.

  1. Hook up with someone and throw some fundraiser parties. Always seems to work and it's what I'll be doing once I get ready to shoot a couple of my shorts.
