T.O.M. Film Screenings this Saturday

I don't know why I'm attending this thing. The website alone has several spelling errors. An asian fob must've worked on it. It's hard to believe ever since the first Talent One Media happened, time has been zooming by very quickly. Last year, I submitted "Line of Fire" which was a small, surprising miracle because it almost never got made. It wasn't pessimism really but more like a lack of commitment from others. I still don't know how it was received by the audience. The rest of the short films were very diverse. It's a good thing I didn't submit a film for them this year since it would've been too graphic and judged on. I'm not one who'd compromise a vision. I wasn't going to attend anyway since the short films feel very repetitive to me-- sometimes weak, sometimes terrible, but some visually stunning. Probably just the camera. But after talking to Andrew, he convinced me to attend. It should be fun. I'm seeing less Asian actors in these people's films and that's a significant positive change since the cultures within characters in an American-driven city with scripts would never succeed with Asians. For example, they can never be leading men or women in features. Can you see it? Might as well return to their country's origin. I think I'm in the mainstream category. I'm not so interested in spreading positive messages in films per se. Some of them are really lame. A brave actor can do anything. I've met many insecure actors who are terrified about shattering their image or their role model status. So it's really difficult to find bold actors. Hugh Jackman, Charlize Theron, Gary Oldman, Halle Berry, Edward Norton-- these people go far out. Not Julia Roberts.
