Pre-Production

Big day today and bigger weeks ahead. I'm luckily ending work at 3 today and heading off to KAC to talk with Andy about his decision on visual fx. Good news is that Ari has committed to help with some, maybe all, the visual fx I need. At 7pm, I'll be dining with my family to celebrate my beautiful mom's birthday in Beverly Hills 90210. Then I gotta return home to figure out the last details of the shooting schedule for my next film. Writing up a shot list will be even more painful, but there's always a bigger risk when you wait for the shooting days and just wing the shots. I don't know how the big directors shoot without boards.

Also, I'm glad I saw Shutter Island because it was Scorsese's first psychological thriller and during the film, you never see his traditional camera moves or montage edits. Most people that have seen it thought the film wasn't that great. I can see why-- because of the story, especially when it reveals itself at the end. It is definitely a story that we've all seen before time and time again. But it is DiCaprio's performance that drives the whole film incredibly well and intensely. I admit when the twist at the ending was a little taboo but to me, there was an additional but tiny twist that occurred right after that that made the film original. So I was pleasantly surprised by that choice.
